Dr. Ceren Durmus Souza holds a PhD in Bioengineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry from Ege University. She specializes in biosensor design, sensor fabrication, and assay development, with hands‑on experience across electrochemical, colorimetric, and lateral‑flow platforms. During her career, contributed to multidisciplinary international projects focused on advancing sensor technologies for global environmental and healthcare challenges.

Her work spans water quality monitoring, including pharmaceutical, pesticide, and ion detection, as well as point‑of‑care diagnostics for cancer biomarkers, drugs of abuse, and COVID‑19. She is dedicated to developing practical and accessible sensing technologies with real‑world applications in environmental and healthcare monitoring.
